Programs Overview:

All of our programs are structured around our three learning pillars: exploring what it means to be a young global citizen, deepening understanding of our greatest global challenges, and building skills to be a bold and visionary change maker. Our learning is hands on, through site visits, small-group discussions, projects, and applied activities. We place a premium on peer-to-peer learning, and many of our speakers are youth leaders and experts. Read more about our curriculum here, and check out past speakers here.

More on the Washington, D.C. Programs.
Our Washington, D.C.  programs are based at Georgetown University. We travel frequently to downtown Washington D.C. to meet with experts and policymakers.

More on Global Scholar: Civil Rights and Leadreship. In Montgomery, Alabama at the Legacy Museum & National Peace and Justice Memorial, and Selma, Alabama.
Our new Montgomery, Alabama experience is centered around the movement for civil rights in the United States, and how we can apply that work to our leadership today. Site visits will include: the Legacy Museum and National Civil Rights Memorial in Montgomery, and key sites in Selma including the National Voting Rights Museum. We will explore the connection between slavery and current issues including mass incarceration and the school-to-prison pipeline. Our workshops will focus on how to apply these lessons to our work as youth leaders and changemakers in our communities. Scholars will stay in double rooms in a local hotel, alongside our staff.

More on Global Scholar: Virtual.
Our popular virtual program is back, meeting five times throughout the summer. Scholars will connect with youth leaders from around the globe, and learn from experts on the ground leading change on our greatest challenges. Scholars will stay connected with virtual peers between session days, working on applied assignments and challenges in small groups. They will also connect with our DC participants. This is a great option for Scholars who can’t travel to DC or the US, and/or have other summer obligations preventing them from doing an in-person program.

NOTES ABOUT PRICING AND SCHOLARSHIPS
  • Last year we offered need-based financial aid to 50% of the Global Scholar class.
  • We process financial aid applications after students are accepted to the program. We do not charge an application fee. Therefore if your participation is dependent upon financial aid, please apply to the program and if/once you’re accepted we will explain next steps. Please keep in mind that we rarely offer full scholarship funding to attend the program.
  • You’ll find our fees are significantly lower than those of any similar program. We are not a business looking to extract exorbitant fees from students and their families. Rather, we charge the actual cost of running the program. Please keep this in mind when requesting aid and/or comparing programs.

CANCELLATION POLICY

We work hard to keep costs low and to provide a valuable program that is priced well below our competitors.

If you cancel within 30 days of the start date of your Global Scholar session, you won’t receive a refund. If you cancel within 60 days but more than 30 days to the start date of your Global Scholar, you will receive a refund of 50% of the amount you’ve paid.

If we are forced to cancel in-person programming due to public health or other requirements, any student who has been accepted to an in-person program is welcome to switch to a virtual session, or receive a full refund of any fees paid.

Space in our programs is extremely limited, and we have to reserve student housing and vendors well in advance. As a result, our ability to provide refunds is limited strictly to these timetables. We understand that few can afford to pay for a program that they can’t attend, so we strongly encourage you to consider our refund policy when making future plans and to plan carefully.
