🆕 Global Scholar Training Fellow (Summer 2025)

Join the AMP Global Youth team as a Training Fellow for our popular Global Scholar program, which prepares youth to be visionary leaders and bold changemakers around urgent global challenges. Global Scholar welcomes high school-aged students from across the US.

The Training Fellow is an exciting position for someone eager to take their skills around social change training, facilitation and pedagogy to the next level. Fellows will participate in Action Lab workshops, initially to support but eventually to help deliver content to this summer’s Global Scholars. The goal is for Fellows to feel confident and equipped to eventually lead training sessions for future cohorts of student leaders.

The Details:

  • Training: Fellows will participate in staff development workshops on training and facilitation methodology and technique with AMP’s Training Director Aris Hines. These will take place during the program, usually in advance of specific training sessions.
  • Skills Development: Fellows will then shadow and support the Action Lab content during this program delivery. The goal will be to enhance the Fellow’s understanding of the issue-specific content, and refine their skills leading group learning and dynamics around them.
  • Refining Skills: Fellows will then be eligible to deliver virtual or face-to-face training to our network to further refine and expand their skills, and be eligible for future paid contract work leading training workshops with our network.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Supporting training workshops, as described above
  • Supporting related activities, including reflection sessions, daily challenges and a final group project. This might include helping them brainstorm ideas, develop a workplan, execute activities, and more.
  • Helping program staff foster relationships and fun throughout the program.
  • Supporting overall running of the program, including helping with logistics, sightseeing, and other sessions on campus and downtown.

Skills and Qualifications Needed:

  • Experience working with student groups, trips, camps, conferences or equivalent.
  • Experience having participated in Global Scholar or a similar program.
  • Excellent ability to build teams.
  • Excellent personal and communications skills.
  • Enough experience with international / public affairs to lead group discussions on these topics.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Fun and willing to serve as a mentor to very excited young leaders.
  • Fellow must be at least 18 years old, and able to pass a background check.

Details: This is a weekly position, and includes several virtual days of training prior to the start of the program. Hours are variable, but Fellow should expect to be with the group at least 6 hours/day. When working with our Washignton, DC programs the fellow will also receive meals and housing at the host university. AMP Global Youth will work with fellows if they seek to pursue this position for academic credit. Following this experience, fellows will have the opportunity to advance to the role of Assistant or Full Trainer (depending on fit and performance) which will include future contracts and opportunities with our network.

🆕 Global Scholar Program Fellow (Summer 2025)

The Program Fellow supports the learning journey of program participants and helps build the energy and relationships within the group. In addition to supporting student breakout groups and projects, the Program Fellows create fun social events, including evening hangouts and lunch tables. Working as part of a team, the Fellows are party hosts, energy producers, and mentors. This is a great position for someone interested in public and international affairs, youth leadership development, and social change. Successful candidates are alumni of the Global Scholar program.

The Program Fellow will work as part of the staff team in Washington, DC and online. They will work as part of a team, and as part of a broader program team including the Program Coordinator, Trainers, and Training Fellows. This position is equivalent to a fellowship, and mentors will receive housing and food with the program.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting small-group discussions, for example breakout groups to reflect on a speaker.
  • Crafting and leading virtual social events, including evening hangouts, sightseeing, and other activities.
  • Supporting the group as they complete daily challenges and a final group project. This might include helping them brainstorm ideas, develop a workplan, execute activities, and more.
  • Helping program staff foster relationships and fun throughout the program.
  • Supporting overall running of the program, including helping with logistics, travel, and other needs. For example the Peer Mentor might help refill Metro cards, plan sightseeing downtown, etc.
  • Support other special moments during the program, including the SOGY Launch and Alumni Reunion. This might include helping plan fun meals or activities, invite participants, liaise with speakers and guests, and more.

Skills and Qualifications Needed:

  • Experience with student groups, trips, camps, conferences or equivalent, as participant or intern.
  • Experience with leadership development programs like Global Scholar (or similar).
  • Excellent ability to build teams. Excellent personal and communications skills.
  • Enough experience with international / public affairs to support group discussions on these topics. You will receive materials in advance, and support for helping guide the conversation.
  • Fun and willing to serve as a mentor to very excited young leaders.
  • Fellow must be at least 18 years old, and able to pass a background check.
