Global Scholar:   COVID-19 Edition

Amplifying youth power around COVID-19

We are equipping young leaders from the US and Morocco to understand and take action around COVID-19. Through seminars and workshops, Global Scholars will work together to amplify the youth voice around this shared global challenge.

Now more than ever, it is critical for youth to take action to address our shared global challenges. While COVID-19 has disrupted life as we know it, it has also opened space for us to articulate a new vision for what can be. Youth have an opportunity to design and pursue a post COVID-19 future that is more just and sustainable. Join us to get started.
Global Scholar: COVID-19 Edition is generously funded by the Stevens Initiative, which is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, with funding provided by the U.S. Government, and is administered by the Aspen Institute. It is also supported by the Bezos Family Foundation and the governments of Morocco and the United Arab Emirates.

Key Program Elements

Amplifying Youth Solutions

We will explore what it means to be a global citizen and the unique power of youth to redefine our future and make change happen.

Exploring COVID

COVID-19 isn’t just a public health challenge. It has widened existing challenges across all sectors, from food security to immigration. Global Scholars will examine COVID-19 as a systemic challenge, which requires dynamic action.

Building Skills

Global Scholars build skills to initiate projects in their communities addressing the impacts of COVID-19, and support each other across borders too. The world cannot wait for your action!

Connecting Youth Leaders from the United States and Morocco

Global Scholar: COVID-19 Edition offers a special opportunity for youth from across the United States and Morocco to come together to explore their shared experiences and connections, understand their differences, and work together to propose bold youth-led interventions and alternatives.

Proposing Bold Youth-Led Interventions to Address COVID-19

We are living in extraordinary times. COVID-19 has transformed our lives in a matter of months, and its impacts compel us to examine many of the systems and structures that have facilitated its devastation. In crisis there is often opportunity, too. Scholars will not only explore the challenge of COVID-19, they will work together to propose a bold vision for what can be, and start the work to make it so.

Funded with Generous Support from the Stevens Initiative

We are proud to offer this as a fully-funded experience, thanks to the support of the Stevens Initiative, which is an international effort to build global competence and career readiness skills for young people in the United States and the Middle East and North Africa by growing and enhancing the field of virtual exchange. Created in 2015 as a lasting tribute to Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, the Initiative is committed to helping to expand the virtual exchange field through three pillars of work: investing in promising programs, sharing knowledge and resources, and advocating for virtual exchange adoption.
