Global Scholar: Virtual

Session 6: Sun July 6 – Fri July 11, Online

About The Program

If you’re fired up about global challenges from the environment, to global security, to winning access to education for all, then this is the program for you. Global is local, and our program provides context and perspective, while empowering participants to ultimately take action in their community. Global Scholars are eager to explore, dig deep, and ask tough questions. They know the many issues we face are reflective of complex economic, political and social systems that need to be challenged. And Global Scholars don’t sit on the sidelines and wait for change to happen. They’re committed to exploring their role and power to be part of the solution. Global Scholars are dreamers, builders, and doers. They know it’s up to us to pursue, design and demand our shared future.

Who is this program for?

This program is for rising 8th-12th graders who are curious, bold, and visionary. You do not need any particular prior experience or coursework; the biggest thing we look for is curiosity and eagerness to explore urgent global challenges and become changemakers. The program is held in English.

Where will this program take place?

Our virtual program takes place on Zoom, from 11am-3pm ET (Washington DC time) every day. There are additional optional social events scheduled before and after some of these days.

Price: We are committed to ensuring as many students as possible can benefit from this life-changing experience. In addition, we are fiercely committed to charging an honest price for this experience. We are significantly more affordable than any of our peer programs. This is not due to any difference in quality of programming; in fact, we are superior in both. Rather, we are a mission-focused non-profit organization, not a business looking to extract huge sums from students and their parents. Every year about 50% of the class receives scholarship support to attend. Please review application deadlines and fees on our website, here.

How do I apply for financial aid? We will share the financial aid application with admitted students, and release aid decisions once/month. There is no application fee.

What’s Included: The program fee includes the virtual program and related events. Scholars are also invited to join our alumni community and apply for leadership and research positions within our broader youth network.

What else can I do with AMP Global Youth this summer? This summer, we are offering our two 9-day programs in Washington, DC; a 6-day extension in Washington, DC; an 8-day program in Atlanta, GA (based at Emory University), and a virtual program. Programs are designed to enable you to link as many as you’d like, for example: a 9-day and 6-day program in Washington, DC. Let us know if you have any questions about joining multiple programs this summer. (You’ll get a great discount off both, too!)

Questions? Please don’t hesitate to reach out! We are a virtual office, so email is usually the fastest way to reach us: GlobalScholar@AMPGlobalYouth.org. We are very happy to schedule a time to speak, too!

Admitted Scholars will be given access to our Admitted Students Portal, and invited to Welcome Calls later in the spring.

We hope to see you in Washington this summer!
