Informed, Inspired, Powered-Up

“We’re not mad; we’re disappointed.” 2020 was like nothing we’ve seen before: a historically divisive election; a global pandemic; and so much more. Youth couldn’t afford to stand by and wait for adults to pick up the pieces. So, we equipped ourselves with the knowledge and skills necessary to move forward, and demand our seat at the table. These challenges are immense, but also give us an unprecedented opportunity to push for change. AMP rose to meet this moment with Power Up, which is created by youth for youth to equip us with the tools we need to succeed in this unique climate. Power Up is a two-day conference where you learn necessary 21st century skills through interactive workshops, small-group discussions, and conversations with experts.

Over 50 students from 12 countries and 20 U.S. states joined us for the inaugural AMP Power Up conference in January 2021.

Join us for Power Up 2022 in Washington, D.C.

In early 2022, all 2021 Global Scholar participants will be invited to join us for the second annual Power Up conference in Washington, D.C. The conference will take place over a long weekend. At the Power Up, you’ll get to:

  • Connect with other inspiring young leaders
  • Participate in advanced level trainings around strategic communications, dialogue and conflict resolution, professional skills, and more
  • Lobby your representatives about issues you care about on Capitol Hill
  • Explore beautiful Washington, D.C.

Key Program Elements

BRIDGING OUR DIFFERENCES

Through workshops on dialogue, finding common ground, and resolving differences, you’ll build your skills to have tough conversations around important topics with peers.

CONNECTING AND INSPIRING

It’s been a difficult time for our generation. We’ll have lots of time to meet and have some fun with other inspired youth leaders through nightly social and networking events.

CLAIMING OUR POWER

You’ll get the skills and support to find your next professional opportunity, because it’s clear that now more than ever youth NEED to be at the table. You’ll walk away with skills to write your resume and LinkedIn profile, network and interview for that next great opportunity.

Created by youth, for youth

Our spectacular student fellows, Fairooz, Mohamed, Tova, Srilekha, and Avia, designed the Power Up conference to respond to what youth need in this moment.
