We know it’s a busy time of year, so we’ll make this quick. We need your help to train the next generation of global leaders. Our world and generation face tremendous challenges, from protecting refugees to climate change. The good news is youth have the power to create solutions, and build a more just planet for us all. Our Global Scholar leadership incubator builds the leaders who will make it happen.
Although we provide scholarships to over 60% of the Global Scholar class, every year many more are unable to attend due to lack of funding. Together we can change that. No inspired young leader, future visionary, or next Secretary General of the United Nations should be denied this experience.
100% of your donation will go directly to need-based scholarships for the 2019 program. And our Global Scholars are powerful. Last year participants hailed from 17 states and countries, and over 70% identified as students of color. Global Scholar alums have gone on to lead events on campuses and in communities, win prestigious internships and scholarships, and pursue careers in international affairs, public service and social change. They are the change we’ve been waiting for. Here’s what they have to say about the impact of this program:
AMP Global Youth is a student-led network founded after 9/11 with the belief that youth have an essential role to play in crafting a more just and sustainable world.
That work is more important than ever before. Global Scholar – our signature global leadership incubator for high school students – has more than doubled in size in the last two years, and we’re running four sessions in the summer of 2019. The curriculum covers essential topics like diversity & inclusion, systems thinking, dialogue and interpersonal communications, and more. It truly offers a “global citizen skill set’.
The importance of and demand for this work is growing rapidly, and we need your help to reach as many students as possible. Every year we sadly turn away dozens of prospective Global Scholars with the passion and drive to attend, but who lack the means to do so.
Every time we receive an email or application from a young person with big dreams but limited means, our collective heart sinks. “If we could, we would.” But shoulda woulda couldas are not good enough given the dire challenges we’re facing. You can help us do more.
Thank you in advance, and we look forward to working together in 2019!
– Vanessa, Karen, and the rest of the Global Scholar team!
