Welcome to Global Scholar! From An Alum

“We live in a world in which we need to share responsibility. It’s easy to say ‘It’s not my child, not my community, not my world, not my problem.’ Then, there are those who see the need and respond. I consider those people my heroes.”

Congratulations! You’re already Mr. Rogers’ heroes. You saw the need for change and responded: you applied to Global Scholar. Well, you couldn’t have made a better choice.

Two years ago, I was in your shoes—excited to conquer the world’s problems, curious about international relations, and anxious to be a global leader. I cannot even begin to explain what a remarkable experience Global Scholar was for me.

In the short time that you spend as a Global Scholar, you will meet amazing people, challenge your own views, and have lots of fun. You will not only learn about the world around you, but you will come to understand your place in it. You will all be leaders and change-makers—never doubt that.

Make friends. Expand your network. Engage in conversations. Think about how you can change the world. This wonderful program is only the beginning of your journey. The next step is up to you. You all share responsibility in creating our future—with what you will learn as a Global Scholar, I have complete faith that you will make it a great one. Don’t let Mr. Rogers down.
